Using Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to Request Electronic Documents
There are two methods to requesting electronic documents.
Method 1: Requesting electronic documents manually
- From the library website, click on Interlibrary Loan under Express Links.
- This will bring you to the interlibrary loan webpage. Select Request via ILLiad.
- You will be brought to the ILLiad logon screen. If you do not have an account, you can create one at this time; otherwise, sign in using your login information.
- You will then have the option to request different documents. Select the one that you are interested in and fill out the appropriate citation information.
- Whichever option you select, you will be brought to a form that will ask you to fill out the appropriate item information. The more information you can provide, the easier it will be to find your item electronically. Once all required fields are filled out, click Submit Request.
Method 2: Requesting electronic documents from Library OneSearch records
- When searching Library OneSearch, you may find an item is not available online. If this is the case, the item record will be greyed out and say something like "Full Text Finder" or “Request via Interlibrary Loan".
- If this is an item you would like to access, you can try to request it through interlibrary loan from the item record itself. To do this, click on the item record to expand it and see the record details. At the left side of the page, click Request via Interlibrary Loan.
- You will be brought to the ILLiad logon screen. If you do not have an account, you can create one at this time; otherwise, sign in using your login information.
- Once you are signed in, you will be automatically directed to the appropriate Loan Request form with some of the fields pre-filled out. You may need to finish filling out some of the required fields if they did not auto-populate. Once the form is filled out, click Submit Request.
That’s it! You will receive an email with your ILL request attached if it can be obtained electronically.
